Sound familiar after a long day?

Boot off, sock off, and your heel is red. A blister forms when damp skin rubs in the same spot for a long time, most often on the heel, the toes and the sides of the foot.

Good socks reduce friction, but your skin also needs to be ready for the load. That’s what the “Before” cream is for.

One in the morning, one in the evening

Blisters form where skin turns soft and vulnerable from moisture and friction. That’s why the set has two different creams: one protects before the effort, the other helps you recover after.

Before Hike protective foot cream with urea and zinc
1Before the hike

Protective cream

Moisturises and softens the skin and leaves a thin protective layer where the boot rubs most.

  • Urea and lanolin keep the skin supple
  • Zinc oxide helps reduce irritation in friction areas
  • Coconut and sweet almond oil form a gentle barrier

When: a thin layer on clean, dry feet before you put on your socks. Especially on the heels, toes and sides.

After Hike cooling foot cream with menthol and tea tree oil
2After the hike

Cooling, restoring cream

Cools straight away once the boots are off and moisturises the skin so it can recover by morning.

  • Menthol and peppermint oil cool and refresh
  • Urea and glycerin moisturise and soften
  • Tea tree oil and allantoin soothe the skin

When: in the evening on clean feet. Massage in until fully absorbed.

I’ve just walked part of the Fishermen’s Trail on the Latvian coast: 3 days (22 km / 12 km / 20 km) on very sandy ground. Practically nothing but deep sand. Not a single blister.

We went on a 2-day hike along the sea. Our feet felt pampered: no chafing, safe and sound. Rubbing in the “after walking” cream every evening, there was no tiredness in the morning.
Baiba G. · set★★★★★
I ordered this for my boyfriend, who is currently doing national service in Latvia. We’ve been using it for 5 days: the skin has recovered and isn’t peeling anymore. A very small amount is plenty for one foot.
Elīna · set★★★★★
A pleasant feeling for the feet. Lots of walking in boots with a fairly heavy backpack.
Toms K. · set★★★★★
A good refreshing cream. I use it both before and during a hike.

And in winter?

The “After” cream contains menthol, so it cools. In summer, that’s exactly what feels best after a long day. On cold, rainy days the cooling can be too much, as one of our customers pointed out.

  1. In autumn and winter, use the “After” cream in the evening, when your feet are already warm and the boots are off, not before going outside.
  2. Before heading out, use the “Before” cream. It contains no menthol (it does contain tea tree and peppermint oil).
  3. After the cream, put on warm socks. Merino wool stays warm even when damp.

When it’s hot, it’s a big plus: your feet don’t burn, they cool down. But on cooler days the creams add even more coolness. Overall I recommend them to everyone: for the price, the product has proven itself and copes even with the load of national service.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use the two creams?

Before a hike, apply a thin layer of the protective cream to clean, dry skin and massage it in especially on sensitive spots: heels, toes and the sides of the foot. Then put on your socks.

After the hike, wash your feet, apply the cooling cream and gently massage it in until fully absorbed.

Can I put the cream on a blister or a rubbed spot?

No. The manufacturer advises against using the creams on irritated or damaged skin. They’re made to protect and care for healthy skin so that blisters form less often. If you already have a blister, use a plaster or a dedicated blister product.

How long does one bottle last?

It depends on how often you use it. The bottle has a pump, and you only need a thin layer. A customer whose boyfriend uses the set during national service wrote that “a very small amount is plenty for one foot”. For daily use in service or over a long season, the 100 ml bottle is better value.

Isn’t the “After” cream too cold in winter?

Menthol cools, so in cold weather it’s best to use the “After” cream in the evening at home or in the tent, once your feet are warm. Before going outside, use the “Before” cream, which has no menthol.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

It contains tea tree and peppermint oil. If you have sensitive skin or are allergic to any of the ingredients, check the full ingredient list above first and test the cream on a small patch of skin.

Does it make a good gift?

Yes, especially for someone who walks a lot: a soldier, a hunter or a keen hiker. Add a pair of Explorer or Military merino socks and you have a complete gift for the feet, with free shipping.

Where are the creams made?

In the Baltics. The creams are made for KarmaSock by SIA “Ķemeru dūņas”.
